Get the basic setup
The Rat Wrangler start and Wild’s Ranching route provide ways into rat breeding. Check the cage, animals and feed equipment you actually received. The current machine reference says the Ranching upgrade and Rat Wrangler start include a dispenser already in the supplied cage. [1][2]
- An Animal Cage with room for the rats.
- A male and a female for breeding.
- Suitable food and a working feeding arrangement.
- A way to inspect each animal’s age, health and hunger.
Pre-release footage shows the cage’s Dispenser slot and animal status tooltips. It helps identify the arrangement, but the older capacity numbers should not be carried over to the release version. [3]
Prepare a pair, then inspect the next night’s result
- Inspect the rats individually. Confirm sex and read age, health and hunger instead of choosing only by appearance.
- Put the pair in a suitable cage. Keep room for the animals already present and check space again after births.
- Prepare the food. With a dispenser, convert suitable food into stored calories and fit it to the cage. The feeding guide walks through the separate loading and feeding steps.
- Review after each night. Check hunger, new animals and remaining food before increasing the population. [1][2]
A successful first setup is one you can keep supplied and inspect. A single example litter is not a guaranteed number of rats per night; the ranching reference describes variation rather than a fixed production line. [1]
If the rats are hungry
Check the feeder’s location, stored calories and feed type. Rats do not use fish feed. Food left in the feeder’s input storage is also different from calories that have already been blended. [2]
This page covers establishing and maintaining the basic setup. It does not prescribe an optimal genetic pairing, disease treatment or a guaranteed meat yield.
