Use the feed dispenser, not the Food Blender
The machine you want is the Livestock Feed Dispenser. It processes suitable inputs into a calorie reserve and supplies animals from its position in their enclosure. Food Blender is a different device; the two names should not be used interchangeably. [2]
The current reference describes the dispenser as not requiring electricity. If animals are hungry, start with its placement and calorie reserve rather than looking for a battery to install. [2]
Convert food, then fit the dispenser
- Open the correct device. Check its name and locate the input storage and Blend control.
- Add food you intend to consume. Choose an appropriate input. Keep valuable breeding animals out: the machine can process animals as well as food.
- Use Blend. Inspect Stored Calories and confirm that it increased. Merely putting food in storage is not the same as converting it.
- Fit it into the Animal Cage’s Dispenser slot. Check the feeding setting and leave usable calories available.
- Inspect after the night. Check the animals’ hunger and the reserve that remains. [1][2]

The controls that matter
| Control or reading | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Blend | Processes the contents of the storage into the calorie reserve. |
| Auto Blend | The reference describes automatic nightly processing and says it is off by default. Check your current setting. |
| Empty | Clears the stored calories. It is not the button to feed the animals. |
| Feeding slider | Sets how full the animal’s hunger is filled. Inspect this if feeding is lower than expected. |
These controls and their functions come from the current machine reference. The older linked video provides a visual example of the cage slot and Blend interaction. [2][1]
If the rats still will not eat
Check slot → stored calories → feed type → feeding setting → completed night. Rats do not draw fish feed. Suitable ordinary food inputs, such as Nutrifruit, are listed separately from fish-only feed in the reference. [2]
For the cage, breeding pair and nightly checks, continue to starting a rat setup.
